CHILDREN BEING PASSED OVER FOR LUNG TRANSPLANT...VICTORY UPDATE

VICTORY

I'M SO HAPPY TO SHARE THE NEWS THAT SWEET Sarah Murnaghan RECEIVED HER NEW LUNGS ALONG WITH A LITTLE BOY. ALSO THE MEDICAL POLICY WAS CHANGED DUE TO THE PETITION.

https://www.change.org/petitions/optn-unos-change-policy-to-allow-pediatric-transplants-of-adult-lungs-based-on-medical-necessity?utm_source=action_alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=27317&alert_id=MYCbKcODmZ_UcxsNQbenJ

OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE....I BEG YOU HELP THEM RECEIVE LUNGS, IF I WAS ABLE FOR A LUNG TRANSPLANT I WOULD PASS FOR THE CHILDREN

Those of you who know me true true, know that children are extremely important to me. I once worked with a BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY 'LUCY' in philly many many years ago with cystic fibrosis. Her favourite Beatles song was 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds' her little face would light up, how we sang and danced (to our fashion) then giggle at ourselves.

I am sad to say due to my own health problems I had to stop looking after her, and unfortunately lost touch with Lucy and her dear family. It breaks my heart this family suffered so much not only with Lucy but also their youngest child of 18 months was diagnosed with cancer, can't imagine how their older brother dealt with it or Mommie and Daddy.

As we grow up we make choices, some which are not so good for us and one thing's for sure

WE TAKE OUR LUNGS AND BREATHING FOR GRANTED.

Children with lung disease
 DIDN'T MAKE THE WRONG CHOICES

As medical law stands now

ANY CHILDren UNDER THE AGE OF 12 ELIGIBLE FOR LUNG TRANSPLANT ARE PASSED OVER FOR AN ADULT!!

Those of you who know me true true and who have been following my story know my lungs are 'shot' partly to bad choices, environmental and genetics. Had I known our family is genetically disposed to certain lung diseases I would've made better choices, including where I live, my hobbies n such.

Due to other autoimmune disease I'm not a candidate for a transplant, we really don't know long I have got due to events like these complicate matters

one of these could be my last.....permanently.
For those of you who have never experienced or seen attacks like these (this was a very mild attack for me) imagine children and their families living with these, often on daily basis. If I was eligible for a transplant I would decline for the sake of the children. please I beg you sign the petition link above to change the law, imagine it being your child!!

Imagine our world with very few children because adults who made bad choices are at the front of the line. One of those children (given the chance) could prevent cancer and other disease in the future, solve starvation, save our mother earth because they received the lungs they need.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT....A LOT OF ADULTS WHO RECEIVE NEW LUNGS CONTINUE ON WITH THE BAD CHOICES THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM THAT REQUIRED A LUNG TRANSPLANT!!

  1. Dear June,

I found you on Mommascik. . . I don't know what else to say except - I'll keep you in my prayers. Children being passed over. . .:( I'm so sad. My father died from none smokers Lung cancer. He never should have had that. He didn't smoke, didn't live with smokers, ate healthy and exercised everyday 2 weeks until he died. Life. . .sometimes it's just not fair.

    xoxo, Lisa

  2. I am sorry in being so late responding to you...I get lost a lot.

Bless your heart honey,I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, so many think of lung cancer affects only those that smoke..It can affect anyone. I'm afraid I'm not very good at knowing what to say at times like this. I do wish you and your family peace of heart and soul. I know how much it hurts honey.

I am pleased to say the bill was changed and children under 12 will be considered for lung transplant, they will be added to the list just like everyone else and wait their turn.

I am also happy to say the little girl and a little boy received their new lungs. Both now have a chance of a full life.
